Layla Abdel-Rahim brings her very unique perspective and critique to the Occupy movement. Born in Russia, she was then raised in Sudan where she describes her upbringing as being a "magical fairy tale...where different languages, different cultures and different outlooks met at this confluence." She now lives with her family in Canada where she teaches at the University of Quebec.
Marxist geographer David Harvey showed up to our General Assembly on November 30 as we were awaiting the release of folks arrested after the Occupy Philly. Some background rain sound, make it real on the streets OP ! Thanks to Diane for the recording :)
Housing is a human right! Hear Florence Mason speak to members of the People of Color and Radical Caucus working groups about her family's struggle for housing, a struggle which eventually led to police intimidation and the brutalizing of her children at the hands of the police.
