In the imagination of many civil rights and human rights are two different things. When we think of civil rights, we think of those striving for the certain political rights so that they can be included in the decision making processes of society. We often think about a particular moment in U.S. American history, when black men, women, and children organized and demanded a radical equality in the U.S. We often think of great individuals like socialist preacher Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. or the socialist union leader who developed the March on Washington, A. Phillip Randolph.
The individuals from these neighborhoods should be as aghast at the hateful filth emanating from their seemingly empty heads and souls, as I am. I am a shamed that you can dare to call your selves humans, much-less Americans.
Where did you claim the moral right to tell people that they do not deserve the basic necessities of life, was it the bible, G'd that you claimed this right from. I think not because the G'd I love, worship, and serve would never dare to turn his back on the plight of the innocent poor, the down trodden, or weak.
I don’t think it’s a secret to most people that there are some fundamental economic, social, and political contradictions hindering the creative and moral progress of our nation. We need a reinvigorated democratic spirit in our political system. And we need to align our economic practice, public and foreign policy with the justice oriented task of creating a foundation fertile for continuous human development, the strengthening and enforcement of human rights, and the expansion of conditions of freedom for everyone.
After carefully watching and listening to the political discourse, as provided by Democrats and Republicans in Washington D.C., the city councils, state houses, and the political pundits on cable news channels, I’ve realized that there are a few things that seem to be lacking in the discussion. None of these groups talk about freedom and justice. Now I’ve mentioned to others the absence of “freedom” and “justice” from the discourse. And I was told that these media people are supposed to present a nonpartisan view on things.
