Radicals are not born; they are made. They are forged in movement. And this is a particularly time in our national and global history where the piercing toungues and burning presence of Radicals is needed. My use of Radical has nothing to do with being extreme. It has to do with being just. It has to do with going to the root of the problem and devoting our vital energies to justice and democracy from the root. It has to do with Radical Democracy. In a society moving backwards puting down your feet and digging your heals in is radical. Taking a step forward is radical.
This is a very interesting piece. I thought people would enjoy reading it. All text and picture are from the following website, which has great articles etc.
Our movement is not a new movement. Rather, it is a movement, as old as human society itself. It is a reincarnation and re-invigoration of movements that have passed away into the deep crevices of historical memory, where they have been carefully placed in graveyards to be honored, but never practiced again. They want us to stand remain passive curators in the museum of social action. But we won’t do that. We cannot do that.
