The Philadelphia School Reform Commission expresses a desire to introduce a plan that will, as opponents from schoolteachers, the Occupy movement and organized labor charge:

*Closes 64 schools and keeps the names secret

*Pushes 40% of our students into charters

*Turns all of our schools over to third-­‐party operators

*Tells us to live with a budget that short changes our children

So, the threat was that we'd be tossed out of Dilworth Plaza (The plaza around Philadelphia's City Hall) at 5:00pm, but here we are at midnight and as you can see we're still here. No sign of police in enough numbers to toss us out.

There were several letters in the Inquirer's letters column that advocated that, rather than take part in protests like Occupy Philadelphia, people should vote instead and thereby toss out the bad politicians and put better politicians in. Great idea, in theory anyway. Let's review the last dozen or so years and voting.
