We are gaining ground against the curfew bill! Councilmembers have already made some changes in response to community opposition. I'm ready to testify tomorrow morning at 10am in City Council. This is what I'm going to say:
Good morning. I’m a medical editor, I live in Southwest, and I’m with Occupy Philly.
In order to support the curfew bill, we would have to be able to trust that the police would not use racial profiling when enforcing it, and that the media would tell us if the police abused their power. I don’t think that trust is realistic.
Here is last Saturday's workshop on reimagining Philly as commons (thanks to Diane!!). During the workshop, Cindy briefly broke down the concept of the commons, Layne and Sarah discussed how the struggle for the libraries and rec centers in Philly changed the dynamic of our public resources and onion talked about his international experiences of spaces seized by popular movements. We then split up into groups and reimagined various aspects of Philadelphia as commons.
Get involved! Sign up for an acount and start posting! We are looking for ways to aggregate media content that is being produced at Occupy Philly and post them here. For more info, email us!
