Occupy Philly was repeatedly pestered by the national parks service to pretty please sign a permit application to stay on independence mall with our two symbolic tiny tents, our signs and our info table. The General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to NOT sign anything. Speaking only of my own opinions and those of some others I overheard some of the reasons for not supporting signing the permit are as follows.
Philadelphia- Saturday, April 7th,2012 Occupy Philly spent the first full day of their occupation of independence mall celebrating and educating one another.
Yesterday, Occupy Philly took Independence Mall at 4:24 pm beginning a 48 hour Occupation just behind the First Amendment with a reading of the Declaration of Independence in front of the visitor center while a crowd of on lookers listened in on this lesson of the American Spirit.
Philadelphia PA, Friday April 6th, 2012 at 12pm Occupy Philadelphia met at Rittenhouse Square for the beginning of what is to be a 48 hour Occupation of Independence Mall located between 5th street and 4th on Market.
They began the weekend long event with a series of Spring Training teach-ins and sign making though many of the signs that would be carried in the subsequent march to the Mall were made over the course of the previous two nights in the basement of the Ethical Society and at an Occupiers home.
